ABOUT WD HERBWISE

Botanical knowledge with scientific context.

WD HerbWise is an educational reference platform. It separates traditional knowledge from evidence and keeps uncertainty visible.

OUR MISSION

Clear, balanced herbal information for everyone

Pakistan has a rich heritage of herbal and Unani practice, but claims online often outrun the evidence. Our mission is to give readers a trustworthy place to learn what is known, what is traditional, and what is still uncertain.

  • Educate — never sell miracle cures
  • Show evidence and limitations honestly
  • Put safety information next to every benefit
  • Respect traditional knowledge without overstating it

OUR VALUES

What guides our work

⚖️

Balance

We present potential benefits and potential harms with equal care.

🔍

Transparency

Sources are named, limitations are stated and corrections are welcome.

🤝

Responsibility

We encourage readers to consult qualified healthcare professionals.

Our evidence approach

Evidence should be described according to study design and human relevance. Cell and animal findings can be useful for research but do not automatically establish effectiveness in people.

Evidence labels

  • Strong Evidence: consistent high-quality human evidence where available.
  • Moderate Evidence: meaningful evidence with limitations or inconsistency.
  • Limited / Preliminary: early, small, indirect or mixed evidence.
  • Traditional Use Only: historical use without sufficient clinical evidence.
  • Insufficient Evidence: not enough reliable evidence to draw a conclusion.

How a herb profile is built

1. Botanical identification

Scientific name, family, part used and origin.

2. Traditional context

Historical and cultural uses, clearly labelled as traditional.

3. Evidence review

Human, animal and laboratory findings summarised with limitations.

4. Safety review

Side effects, cautions and drug interactions.

5. Source verification

Readers are pointed to PubMed and other primary sources.

Editorial principle

No study, DOI, dosage or medical claim should be added to the database unless it can be verified from a reliable source. If you spot an error, please contact us.
